Children and Animals Form Unforgettable Bonds at Country Kids
(Estimated reading time: 7 minutes)
Animal encounters are at the heart of an unforgettable farm holiday experience. However, during the winter our beloved animals miss the animal encounters that our guests experience when they visit.
As they gather close together, nestled in the rolling hills and frost-kissed meadows that form Country Kids, our furry and feathered companions are ready to share their tales of friendship, mischief, and joy as they eagerly await the time when they are once more surrounded by the love of the children of visiting families enjoying the best animal encounters.
Apache the Horse Leads the Way
As the first snowflakes begin to dance in the winter sky, Apache, the noble and wise horse, takes it upon himself to take charge. Apache isn’t just any horse; he’s the heart and soul of the farm, and he’s never far from his donkey companions.
Apache is a majestic creature, with a thick winter coat and calm, steady gaze. But when you come for your animal encounters, don’t let his tranquil demeanour fool you. He and the goats are full of mischief. Especially the playful donkeys.
Each donkey has a distinct personality. We’ve caught them trying to outsmart each other in the last few weeks, as if they are playing a game of hide and seek, and attempting to distract Apache to have a sneaky nibble of his feed.
Families who experience our animal encounters at our farm resort and spa are often surprised by the close bond between Apache and his donkey friends. The donkeys, ever curious and affectionate, love to nuzzle up to visitors, especially when a treat is on offer. Their braying laughter is contagious, and it’s common to find children giggling alongside them, completely engrossed by their charm.
The Cheeky Antics of Soleil and Neige, the Goats
Across the field, our two winter-loving goats, Soleil and Neige, are up to their usual antics. These two are as different as day and night. Soleil, true to his name, is a little ray of sunshine with boundless energy. Neige is the quieter of the pair, serene as freshly fallen snow. But together, they are a dynamic duo that guarantees endless amusement during your animal encounters.
To be honest, winter is their favourite season. Soleil delights in the frosty mornings, bounding around with a joyful energy that warms even the coldest day – with a particular fondness for testing climbing skills on anything that looks remotely climbable, be it a tree stump or an unsuspecting visitor’s leg!
Neige, with a snowy white coat, prefers a more relaxed approach to winter. The mastermind behind their cheeky escapades, Neige often convinces Soleil to join in some new mischief; like sneaking into the barn for an extra snack or playfully head-butting the snowman our kids just spent hours building.
Our visitors are often surprised by how interactive and engaging our goats are, making every visit a unique animal encounter. Whether it’s watching them in a playful duel or feeding them their favourite snacks, Soleil and Neige ensure that everyone leaves with a smile.
Peppa and Popcorn: The Winter Adventures of the Piggies
Now we come to our piggies, Peppa and Popcorn, who have their own brand of winter fun. Their rotund figures and lazy ways can be deceptive. These two know how to make the most of the chilly season.
Peppa, loves nothing more than a good wallow in the mud, even when the ground is frosty. A creature of habit, you’ll often find her snuggled deep in her warm bed of straw, grunting contentedly as she dreams of more winter treats. Popcorn, on the other hand, is always looking for something to munch on. His favourite winter pastime? Rooting around in the snow in search of hidden treasure – be it an overlooked apple or a forgotten carrot.
What makes these animal encounters with Peppa and Popcorn so special is their unexpected intelligence and curiosity. They’re always keen to investigate new visitors, often greeting them with a friendly snuffle. They have a knack for making everyone feel at home, and children adore them.
Looking Forward to Animal Encounters in Warmer Weather
As winter envelopes our fields in its frosty blanket, our exceptional animals are taking a well-deserved break, resting and recharging for the busy months ahead. The farm is quiet at this time of year, but it’s a perfect time to plan your trip and the incredible animal encounters we offer.
As spring dawns, the French countryside will transform once more into a vibrant tapestry of colour, and, once more, our animals will be looking forward to welcoming our guests into their world as the weather warms up.
The gentle warmth of the sun will bring out the playful side of Apache and his donkey companions, who will be eager to stretch their legs and trot through the fresh grass. The goats, Soleil and Neige, will return to their cheeky antics, climbing and exploring with renewed energy. And the piggies, Peppa and Popcorn, will be as curious as ever, rooting around for treats and soaking up the sunshine.
Our animal encounters offer a unique opportunity for children to connect with nature and experience the simple joys of life. It’s a chance to slow down, enjoy the moment, and create unforgettable family holiday memories while learning about the cycle of life and sustainability.
